Wow…Easter is here already and that means Zoë will be turning one in no time.  I promise…time flies even faster now that we have a second child.  I was trying to scramble to get the girls to go take their Easter bunny pictures but of course I failed!  Sorry, girls!  We were so busy trying to find the right dresses for Easter.  Ones that match but didn’t match {if you know what I mean} just because I like it that way and boy it is hard trying to find something within that criteria.  Mya is almost out of a size 5/6 and Zoë can wear anything from a 9m to 12-18m, so finding something from the same section was really challenging but we did it and I have to say…they looked darling!  I ended up loving the dresses on them!

We decided to have an Easter egg hunt in the evening this year at the park just to battle the morning crowds.  I remember one year when we woke up at 5-6 o’clock in the morning just to try and find a spot at  a local park and because there are crazies out there crazier than we are…it was really difficult to secure a spot we wanted.  People had their canopies/tents up and taped off areas to try and reserve them.  It was crazy.  So instead of 5-6 o’clock in the morning we opted for 5-6 o’clock in the evening instead which was awesome because people already left the park or were getting ready to leave and the sun was just beginning to set.  It wasn’t too hot…it wasn’t too cold and of course it was an optimal time for pictures. :)   The kids had so much fun including Zoë.  It was a special one for her since it was the first and she knew exactly what to do…hunt for eggs!  We had no food, no beverages, no games…just an egg hunt for an hour or so and believe it or not, it was perfect!

Happy Easter from our family to yours!

xoxo

Uncle Clif leads the kids with some warm-ups and stretches before the hunt…lol!

This is what we were busy doing…especially me.  Chasing Zoë…

May 13, 2012 - 8:57 pm Titi Brandi - These pictures are awesome. The girls are growing up so fast. It kinda makes me sad how busy we've become because we don't see each other as often as I would like. Your girls are perfect!

Mya: Is ham an animal?

Me: Yes.

Mya: Which animal?

Me: A pig.

Mya: [Long pause]  Are you talking about Toy Story???

A vetinarian.  A farmer.  A police woman.  An artist.  This is the order in which Mya’s career choices have evolved.  First, a vetinarian because she just looooves animals.  Every kid’s dream job, right?!  I then told her there are possiblities where vetinarians can work in different types of places other than the vet’s office like a zoo.  After months and much contemplation she changed her mind because there was no way she could deal with a lion or a tiger at the zoo.  So the next best thing was a farmer.  YES…a farmer!  Who would have thunk?  Well…a farmer because she could still work with animals without having to deal with lions or tigers.  Well…I guess that makes sense.  Then just a few weeks ago….she wanted to be a police woman instead.  “A police woman???”, I asked.  “Yeah…so I can arrest people”, said Mya.  It was the funniest thing.  Then…just a couple of days ago she wanted to be an artist because she wanted her paintings in museums everywhere.  Oh, the endless possibilities.  I love this kid’s imagination.  What I’d give to be a kid again…

First grade has been such a stepping stone for Mya.  We are really thrilled about her love for learning and her passion for reading.  Lately, she’s been reading Junie B. Jones books and is head over heals in love with it.  Every time I turn around, she is buried under the pages and lost in the stories.  It’s funny to hear her read because she reads out loud.  As soft spoken as she is at times, her voice is present even from rooms away.  It’s almost like she’s reading a script.   She pays attention to the all the punctuations and reads aloud with so much expression. We can’t keep up with her as it only takes her a day or so to finish a book and each book has at least a good 30 pages in it.  It’s crazy…but we are lovin’ it!

March 6, 2012 - 2:33 pm Tracy - That's wonderful that she loves to read!

It’s the first day of school for Mya and I am really just worried that I will be able to keep it together to keep from embarrassing myself and especially Mya.  She has been counting down the days to 1st grade and have been excited about her new teacher, her new classroom and to see her fellow first graders again.  I say it over and over with milestones, but again…it was bittersweet.  We just don’t realize how fast they are growing until we hit milestones like these.  It’s definitely a reality check.  We are so proud of our little girl! Gooooo Mya!
