Mya:  “Mommy, can I please have some paper?  I need some paper.”

Me: “We don’t have anymore paper, Mya.”

Mya: “But I need paper!”

Me:  “Mya…we DO NOT have paper!  Where do you want me to get paper from?  We don’t have any!  You will have to wait until we get some from the store!”

Mya: “Do we have a paper machine?”

Mary graduated from Cal State Dominguez Hills and to celebrate, her family and friends threw her a big bash!  A bottle of Cristal was just one of the perks when you accomplish something so huge.  You know…the only reason I went to the party was because I heard they were poppin’ bottles of Cris….lol!  I kid…I kid!  Congratulations on your graduation, Mary!

I never knew how dirty kids can get until preschool happened.  Mya comes home with a crusty face, untamed hair and sand…sand…SAND everywhere!  Sometimes I wonder how they managed to get so filthy and wonder if the teachers have the kids make sand angels out in the sandbox on purpose to piss the parents off.  I’ve also wondered why preschoolers dress so horribly and now I know.  I now know that a sane mother would never send her child to school with nice clothes on and because I am completely sane, Mya is the worst dressed preschooler….ever.  I remember when Mya came home the first week of school and dumping out sand from her shoes and her pockets.  Yes…they collect sand…in their pockets and even hoods on jackets.  Once, I pulled the hood of Mya’s jacket over her head only to discover that there was about a cup of sand in it.  Now, I remember not to send her to school with a hood on.  That was probably number 254 in the “Mother’s Handbook” ;)

July 21, 2010 - 4:24 pm Gezal - A messy Little Miss Mya is still adorable! She rocks! Even Mya's play clothes are fierce! LOL! I tease, I tease! You are a good mommy for recognizing that preschool may not be the place for Mya's couture!

July 24, 2010 - 1:05 pm Regina White - Just when you thought you could buy a cute outfit and she would come home with it clean. Bam a mess. She is still so adorable.

July 24, 2010 - 1:19 pm Navy Sou - Preschool Couture? Hmmmm...that may be an idea...lol! Couture is indeed for special occasions! Thanks ladies!

Mya and Erica couldn’t wait to go fly their kites at the beach, but when we got there it took them all of 5 minutes to lose interest in the kites.  They opted for sand instead.  It’s so funny to see the things that kids take interest in.  It really doesn’t have to be the biggest or the most expensive thing until they get older and wiser…lol!  I was most amazed when I went to pick Mya up from her grandparents house one day.  She was about 7-8 months old and because I was new to the “mom” thing…I made sure that she had all of her favorite toys there to keep her occupied.  Well, it turns out that her favorite toy that day was a homemade shaker her grandfather made for her out of a plastic water bottle and some red beans.  Who would’ve thunk?

June 30, 2010 - 2:52 pm Titi Brandi - That's so funny you should say that Navy. I was just telling a few people that same story. I remember going to the Aska's house and seeing the bottle. Mya did love that toy, and it was so simple. She's for sure one of those kids that love just about anything you give her. Love you Mya!

We’re loving the weather lately…late spring right before summer starts…is our favorite kind of weather.  We’re gearing up for summer and there’s going to be lots in store for us in the next few months.  Graduations, recitals, classes & lessons on top of trips,  holidays and our big family reunion next month…just to name a few.  We’ll be busy, busy, busy…but in the midst of it all we’ll always find time to slow down and take that walk around the block…to stop and smell the beds of flowers that are neighbors take such good care of…and to enjoy ourselves amongst all of the chaos we call life.

Turning 30 is a big deal you know!  This year has been the biggest birthday year amongst me and my friends because most of us turned dirty thirty…flirty thirty…or whatever you wanna call it.  Some even say that the thirties are the now the new twenties…but who are we really kidding?  Ha!  It was our dear friend, Malida’s turn to enter her thirties with the big 3-0 and she did it in true “XXX” style as she would call it.  We attended her “Forever Young” Prom Party at The Maya Hotel in Long Beach and it was every inch of fab {everyone looked exceptional and I will attest that I have the best looking group of girlfriends…ever}!  They do not look a day over 21…I promise you!

Happy Birthday, Malida!  We love us some Malida!
