It’s Halloween and we started early with a costume parade at school for Mya.  She wore her Princess Leia costume which is a part of our Star Wars theme this year.  She loves the costume despite the fact that most of the kids didn’t know who she was.  One kid shouted out, “Hey, she’s a ghost!”  She was a trooper about it though, and politely corrected people when they would guess wrong or didn’t know who she was.  It was more apparent when we went out trick-or-treating that night because we were all in costume and it made it easy for everyone to recognize who we were.  Zoe was Yoda, Al was Darth Vader and I was Queen Amidala.  We met up with Clif, Jessica, Olivia, Oliver and Roxanne as we do every year.  Mya and Olivia seem to enjoy being able to trick-or-treat with each other so it’s a real treat for us to see them do that together and see their faces light up.  Zoe did well.  She got the concept down.  After a few houses, she knew she would be getting a treat in her pail once we get to the door.  Both Mya and Zoe had their share of candy that night.  I think that was the most candy Zoe has had ever.  She deserved it because she kept her Yoda hat on all night.  I was worried about her wanting to pull that darn thing off!  We started trick-or-treating early right before sunset and after a few blocks, the sun had set and the big kids came out.  This year, we saw more decorated houses and we even saw a haunted house.  The girls were brave enough to go through it!  They are awesome!  After that, we ended the night at Yay-Yay and Papa’s house.  We always go there after trick-or-treating so they can see our costumes and take some pictures.  It was such a fun night.  Now, there is candy to be eaten and costumes to be stored. Farewell, October…

“May the force be with you!” is what Mya said after she received candy at each house.  Uncle Clif told her to say that.  I thought it was pretty darn cute!

I am one happy girl today!  We finally are committed to planning our wedding!  It’s been a long time coming and we are finally making it a priority.  After a 14 year engagement, I think it’s about time.  Every time we planned on a wedding, life happened.  When we planned on getting married the summer of 2011…we had to postpone any plans because we found out we were having Zoe.  So to make sure life doesn’t take another detour, we booked our destination wedding to make it official and it is!  We are happy to announce that we will be getting married in Honolulu, Hawaii on July of 2013!  We are sooo excited and could not be any happier to wed and have our family and friends there to share it with us.  Let the planning begin…

November 13, 2012 - 12:44 am Thy Chan - You have a wonderful blog page. Lovely pics and a great way for family and friends to follow you along the years. Congratulations on the wedding, destination wedding to be exact. That there sounds like an exciting time and one that will definitely be a wedding to remember throughout a lifetime.

November 14, 2012 - 6:43 pm Navy Sou - Thank you, Thy! We are so excited to finally tie the knot. After 14 years and 2 children, I think it's time. :)

Last weekend for the pumpkin patch, so we planned the day out with Clif, Jessica, Olivia and Oliver at our local pumpkin patch.  It was the most crowded I’ve ever seen a pumpkin patch and the lines for the rides were longer than usual, but Mya and Olivia didn’t mind waiting at all to enjoy the rides that they wanted to get on.  They went on a giant bounce house, a teacup style ride where they get to spin the wheel in the middle to spin as fast and as long as they wanted and they spun the darn thing the entire time!  I don’t know how they didn’t get sick and throw up after that ride.  Watching them made me queasy.  They also went into a maze, a roller coaster and played a game or two.  It was nice to spend some time with family and make some memories and traditions along the way.  We look forward to this each and every year.  In the upcoming years ahead, we plan on visiting some bigger and better pumpkin patches that we heard were really awesome.  Can’t wait!

We left the pumpkin patch with a large pumpkin for Mya and a smaller pumpkin for Zoë.  Time to carve some pumpkins! :)

A last minute trip to Universal Studios it is!  We have put these annual passes to good use!  Mya lovvvees this place and I think Zoe does too because she was super good today!  We even went on the tram ride that took us through King Kong 3D and she sat really still and didn’t even  hear a peep from her.  It was Mya’s first time on the tram ride and she said it was one of her favorite rides.  She was amazed to see the set of How the Grinch Stole Christmas…one of her favorite movies.  We weren’t able to get on too many rides this time around as they closed early for their annual Halloween Haunt event that takes place after they close the park down, but it was an enjoyable day for us.  This will not be our last time here this year.  Already looking forward to a few more trips before our passes expire. :)

Mya has been celebrating the big SEVEN all week and to top it all off we had a special little birthday party for her and a dozen of her girlfriends.  The theme was “Queen Mya” and we are happy to say that she loved the royal treatment.  The party consisted of cookies, scones,  a variety of tea sandwiches and berry tea to wash it all down.  After that was over, the girls were in for a treat…cupcake decorating!!!  Our host, Kelly was awesome!  She showed the girls how to pipe and decorate their cupcakes with different types of tips to create whatever design they wanted out of the blue, pink and yellow icing that were provided.  These girls got really creative!  It was a little trickier for the younger girls to squeeze the icing out with their tiny hands but with some help, they were able to grasp the idea and get the technique down.  All of their cupcakes looked amazing!  It was a bit of a mess as I saw one girl rub icing on her sister’s arm…lol…and one girl who over-iced her cupcake so much it ended up on the tablecloth instead of her cupcake…but I guess it was the only time where it was okay as it was all in the name of fun!  Mya had the best time and loved every minute of it.  It only lasted a couple of hours, but the memories will last a lifetime.  We hope she remembers how special today was and especially how special she is to all of us when she looks back and remembers  her 7th birthday! :)

October 30, 2012 - 11:17 pm Patty Aska aka “Yay-Yay” - Great pictures and a fun time!

Today, we went to Kaelyn’s 8th Birthday party in costume as a family.  We wore our costumes that we will be wearing for Halloween night, so you’ll have to wait and see! :)

After Kaelyn’s party, we dropped the kids off at their grandparent’s house so we can go to our own Halloween party.  Of course we each had to change into another costume.  Al was Bruce Leroy from the movie The Last Dragon which is one of his favorite movies of all time.  He’s been wanting to be this character for years and this year, he was finally able to find the suit and wear it.  It’s pretty funny seeing a grown man in something similar to a banana suit if you ask me, but I love the humor in it.  Costume parties are always so much fun and we look forward to it each and every year.  It’s actually my personal favorite holiday! :)  We’re counting down the days to Halloween and all the festivities in between like the pumpkin patch, pumpkin carving, the school Halloween parade and our local Halloween carnival!  October is soo much fun!

Mya’s pre-party was a success!  It was sooo much fun!  All of those skating lessons definitely paid off.  The girl can skate so well now, even though she is still a beginner and stears clear of all of the older skaters who seems like they are going 20 mph…she is comfortable enough not to hold on to the walls the entire time.  Instead, she uses the wall to skate into as she slows down to a complete stop or to catch her balance.  We are so proud of her!  7 years old and another milestone under her belt.  Her most recent milestones also includes being able to do a cartwheel which she has perfected.  It looks SO good!  Better than what I could do…lol!  Next, we will tackle riding a bike.  She’s almost there!  I think it’s been so difficult because the bike is way bigger than she is.  There were instances where she was actually riding by herself without any assistance for a good 3-4 seconds when she got momentum, but not good enough to where she can take off and stop without having any help.  We will definitely practice until it’s perfect!

We want to thank everyone who came out to make memories with us.  After rollerskating, cake and ice cream…we had one happy birthday girl!  When we were all packed up and ready to go, Mya was nowhere in sight.  We ended up finding her skating away in the rink by herself.  That’s how much she loved rollerskating!

Mya, we hope you had a fabulous time as we always want and try to do the best for you.  Not only have you gotten smarter but you have gotten sweeter as you tell me all the time how lucky you are to have us as your parents and Zoë as your sister.  Just last night as we were riding home, you told me you would rather have me, daddy and Zoë as your family than to have the world and you melted my heart right then and there.

We love you to the moon and back…

Happy Birthday to the most beautiful little 7 year old girl we know…

One of her birthday wishes was to go roller skating with her friends, so we are doing just that tonight.  We got her a fresh pair of rollerskates, so we can’t wait to see the look on her face when she see’s it and finds out what we have in store for her tonight!

What am I doing right now?  Taking a break from all of the madness as Zoë is in one of her rare moods {lucky me} and leaving me alone for once.  I can never get on the computer without her clinging to me.  She always wants to sit right on top of me and grab everything in sight.  So yes, I edit pictures with her trying to pounce on the keyboard, I shop online with her while she points at everything on the monitor and I pay my bills online while she bounces on my lap.  Right now…Mya and Zoë are occupying themselves chasing each other around, smashing each other with couch pillows and climbing all over each other terrorizing everything in sight and the room probably is in shambles – but at the end of the day all I’ll remember are the giggles and laughter.  It just melts my heart!  I remember the first time Mya making Zoë laugh.  It was in the car and they were in their own little world laughing at who knows what, but all I could remember was the way they tickled each other and how it tickled me and how I couldn’t help but to bear a smile on my face because it made my heart so full. <3

So…back to the madness.  Jeez…I really don’t know where to start but tonight I’m going to try and tackle Mya’s party invitations as I am late sending them out per usual.  I’m also going to start on a sewing project – Zoë’s Halloween costume.  Hopefully it will be done for a Halloween party this weekend.  Ugh.  Wish me luck!
